In Cherkasy Region, a Law Enforcement Officer Received a Notice of Suspicion for Beating a Man During Mobilization Notification

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has notified a police officer of suspicion for beating a man during a mobilization notification. He continued to strike the detainee even after handcuffs were applied.

Officers of the State Bureau of Investigation have served a notice of suspicion to a police officer from the Cherkasy region who, according to the investigation, used force against a man without justification during notification measures. The law enforcement officer allegedly continued to beat the citizen even after handcuffing and effectively detaining him. This was reported by the SBI press service, according to UNN.

Details

The investigation established that the police officer was part of a notification group for one of the territorial recruitment and social support centers. During the interaction with the man, he used physical force and handcuffs against him.

After the citizen was effectively detained, he offered no resistance and posed no threat to others. Despite this, the law enforcement officer continued to use violence and struck the man several times.

The police officer has been notified of suspicion of exceeding official powers, accompanied by violence, the use of special means, and actions that offend the personal dignity of the victim (Part 2 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for 3 to 8 years of imprisonment.

The issue of selecting a preventive measure for the suspect is currently being decided. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
