The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to the adoption by the Polish Sejm of another resolution on the anniversary of the tragic events in Volhynia in 1943–1944, emphasizing the need to continue constructive dialogue and joint work on establishing historical truth. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, according to UNN.
The foreign policy agency recalled that on July 11, the Ukrainian side honored the memory of all victims of the Volhynia tragedy at the highest level. Ukrainian and Polish high-ranking officials paid tribute to the innocently killed Ukrainians and Poles both on the territory of Ukraine and Poland.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Ukraine counts on the continuation of constructive and professional dialogue, as well as joint search and exhumation works on the territory of both states.

"The truth about the past is established exclusively through a scientific approach," the ministry noted.
The agency stressed that Ukraine highly values Poland as one of its closest allies in countering Russian aggression and is convinced that historical tragedies should not divide peoples who today share common values, a common enemy, and a common European future.

The Ukrainian side also called for equal treatment in bilateral relations, mutual respect for national memory policies, and the development of pragmatic good neighborliness for the sake of a strong Ukraine and a strong Poland.

On July 10, the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance reported that from July 13, 2026, on the territory of the former villages of Ostrovky and Volya Ostrovetska (now within the Rivne rural hromada of the Kovel district, Volyn region), research will be conducted for the purpose of exhumation and subsequent reburial of the remains of residents of these villages who died in August 1943. The work will last until August 7, 2026.
The exhumation research will be carried out by the limited liability company "Specialized Institution 'Volyn Antiquities'" with the participation of Polish specialists: employees of the Institute of National Remembrance of the Republic of Poland and the Wrocław Medical University.
On July 11, the Ministry of Culture reported that Ukraine and Poland honored the memory of the victims of the tragic events of the Ukrainian-Polish confrontation during World War II in Olyka, Volyn region.

President of Poland Karol Nawrocki decided to strip President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle and emphasized that there are limits in Polish-Ukrainian relations that cannot be crossed.
