Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh told Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel that the terrorist group accepts their terms for a ceasefire with Israel.
However, the exact terms of this agreement are not yet known. The publication explains that Israel has made it clear that they will not agree to a deal repeatedly proposed by Hamas, which conditions the release of hostages on the end of the war.
Israel's position
The publication adds that Israel has warned against taking Hamas's statements about a ceasefire agreement at face value.
It is noted that the proposal accepted by Hamas is a proposal made unilaterally by Egypt, and it is not taken seriously in Jerusalem until the details are clarified.
In particular, Israeli officials stated that Israel is now carefully evaluating Hamas's response and will publish ordered comments later this evening.
At the same time, they have already stated that "this is not the same proposal" for an agreement that Israel and Egypt agreed upon 10 days ago, and which has since become the basis for indirect negotiations.
Jerusalem explained that the new provisions concern fundamental issues: whether, how, and when the war will end, and what guarantees are offered for this.
