Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economy of Germany Robert Habeck was unable to fly from Lisbon due to a plane breakdown, UNN reports with reference to DW.
Details
Habek was supposed to return to Berlin from the Portuguese capital, where he participated in the Web Summit conference, on the evening of November 12. However, the flight did not take place due to a technical malfunction of one of the engines of the government's Airbus 350-900 airliner, the newspaper writes.
This is a new aircraft that joined the government fleet in June 2024 as part of a large-scale modernization program.

This is not the first accident with Bundeswehr airliners flown by German politicians. In August 2023, German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock's plane broke down in Abu Dhabi. In May of the same year, she was unable to depart from Berlin on time for a trip to the Persian Gulf countries, also due to a technical malfunction. And the replacement plane burst a wheel on one of the landing gear while landing in Doha.
Other German politicians have also had their planes break down on several occasions: Burbock's predecessor as Foreign Minister, Heiko Mas, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Olaf Scholz when he was German Finance Minister, and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
