Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili called on the EU to put pressure on the pro-Russian government of Georgia to hold new elections amid police repression of peaceful protesters, UNN reports citing DW.

The President of Georgia gave a speech in the European Parliament and stated that Georgian society as such is not divided - there is the Georgian people and the repressive apparatus of one party.
At the same time, Zurabishvili emphasized that it was a peaceful protest.
"We ask only two things: to give us your vote, as the elections were stolen, and to give us back our European future by holding new elections," she said.
At the end of October, Georgia held parliamentary elections, which were won by the ruling Georgian Dream party with 54% of the vote. However, the opposition refused to recognize the official results and called for protests, pointing to numerous violations.
