There were 124 battles on the frontline yesterday, Russian troops continue to storm the Kharkiv sector, most enemy attacks were repelled in the Pokrovske and Toretsk sectors, with the enemy concentrating its main efforts in the former in the areas of Zhelanne and Novooleksandrivka, and in the latter in the areas of New York and Toretsk, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in a report as of 8 a.m. on August 5, UNN reports.

According to the updated information, yesterday the enemy carried out 53 air strikes on the positions of Ukrainian units and localities (including 74 combat aircraft), fired 4,890 times, 97 of them from multiple launch rocket systems.
Over the past day, the aviation, missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces conducted 14 strikes on enemy troop concentrations, destroyed one artillery system and three control points of the Russian occupiers.

In the Kharkiv sector, the enemy continued assault operations. There were 11 combat engagements in the areas of Hlyboke, Lyptsi, Tykhove and Vovchansk.
In the Kupyansk sector, the number of combat engagements increased to six over the last day. Defense forces repelled enemy assaults near five different localities. The enemy focused its actions in the direction of Petropavlivka, conducting two attacks.
At the Lyman direction, our troops repelled eight attacks by the occupiers in the areas of Makiivka, Terny and Nevske.
In the Siversk sector, the Defense Forces repelled eight attacks near Spirne, Verkhnekamianske, Pereizne and Vyymka. The enemy conducted five of the above attacks near the latter.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Ukrainian soldiers stopped 15 enemy attempts to break through our defenses in the areas of Chasovyi Yar, where more than half of all the fighting took place, as well as Ivanivske, Stupochky, Bila Hora, Klishchiyivka and Andriivka.
In the Toretsk sector, the enemy carried out 18 attacks. He concentrated his efforts in the vicinity of the settlements of New York and Toretsk, conducting almost 80 percent of all combat engagements there. In addition, he attacked near Zalizne and Pivnichne. He actively bombed the city of Toretsk and its surroundings, conducting 14 air strikes.
Our defenders repelled 30 attacks in the Pokrovske sector. The enemy concentrated its main efforts in the areas of Zhelanne and Novooleksandrivka, where almost half of the total number of engagements took place.
In the Kurakhove sector, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the enemy in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, Paraskoviivka and Karlivka. In total, the enemy tried to break through the defense of our troops 11 times.
In the Vremivsky direction, the occupants made six assaults on our positions. Three of them took place near Vodiane.
In the Orikhiv sector, three combat engagements took place near Mala Tokmachka. The enemy conducted two more attacks near Robotyne and in the direction of Novodanylivka.
On the Prydniprovsky direction, the Russians were defeated in two firefights.
No signs of enemy offensive groups formation were detected in the Volyn and Polissya sectors. The operational situation has not changed significantly.
On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy maintains a military presence, firing from the territory of the Russian Federation, in particular, at the settlements of Sopych, Bachivsk, Chuykivka and Progress.
"Our soldiers continue to actively inflict significant losses in equipment and manpower on the occupation forces, depleting the enemy's offensive potential along the entire front line and in the rear," the General Staff emphasized.
