In the United States, a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) employee has been charged with sending an email threatening to kill President Donald Trump. This was reported by the Associated Press, according to UNN.
Details
The individual is 35-year-old Dean DelleChiaie of Nashua, New Hampshire. According to prosecutors, on April 21, he sent an email to the White House stating his intention to "neutralize/kill" the president.
The man is charged with interstate transmission of threats. He is expected to make his first court appearance.
Search queries on his work computer had raised suspicion earlier
The investigation began after law enforcement discovered suspicious search queries on his work computer at the FAA, where he worked as a contractor. These included information on how to smuggle a weapon into a federal facility, the location of the Vice President's home, and data about his family.
Following this, DelleChiaie asked the IT department to delete his search history; however, employees reported the incident to the authorities, and he was suspended from work.
The suspect admitted to the searches and cited depression
During an interrogation on February 3, he admitted to conducting these searches and expressed regret.
According to investigators, the man stated that he owns three pistols, is suffering from depression, and is dissatisfied with the Trump administration's policies, but claimed he had no intention of carrying out an assassination.
DelleChiaie was detained on Monday, shortly after another incident in which an armed man attempted to breach a White House Correspondents' Association event.
In that case, the suspect has already been charged, and a Secret Service agent was injured.
