The EU is extending its economic sanctions against Russia not just for six, but for twelve months for the first time. The heads of state and government of the member states made this decision during their summit in Brussels. This was announced by the spokesperson for the President of the European Council, António Costa, after consultations with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reports Die Zeit, writes UNN.

The EU's economic sanctions against Russia, imposed due to its aggressive war against Ukraine, include restrictions on trade, finance, the energy sector, industry, transport, and luxury goods.

These include, for example, the ban on importing Russian oil by sea and the disconnection of several Russian banks from the SWIFT financial communication system.
