The European Investment Bank and the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine have signed an agreement that provides for the allocation of additional 5 million euros to modernize Ukrainian hospitals. The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine have reportedly signed a new agreement aimed at supporting the implementation of necessary energy efficiency measures and the elimination of the consequences of military operations, in particular in the healthcare sector.
The agreement provides for a EUR 5 million investment grant from the Eastern European Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P Facility). It is noted that these 5 million euros increase the total grant contribution from the E5P to 9 million euros, complementing the current EIB loan of 300 million euros.
The grant funds are expected to be used to repair damage, build bomb shelters, install drinking water supply stations, modernize lighting, communication lines and ventilation.

On March 19, the Ministry of Health reported that in more than two years of war, the Russian occupiers had damaged 1543 medical facilities and destroyed another 204 . The largest losses were incurred in medical facilities in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipro, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
