A Russian drone hit a house in Galați due to a course change after being struck over Reni. Two people were injured; responsibility for the incident lies with Russia.

Romanian President Nicușor Dan stated that the Russian drone that hit a residential building in the Romanian city of Galați likely changed its trajectory after being hit over Ukrainian territory. This was reported by Digi24, according to UNN.

Details

According to the Romanian President, during the massive Russian attack, some of the drones were shot down over Ukrainian territory, and one of the drones, after being hit over the city of Reni, changed course and flew toward Galați.

As they flew over the territory of Ukraine, some of them were shot down, and one of them, presumably hit over the city of Reni, changed its trajectory and flew toward Galați

- stated Nicușor Dan.

The President specified that the drone changed its trajectory after a kinetic strike.

It was hit, and because of that, it changed direction

- said the head of the neighboring state.

Nicușor Dan also emphasized that the responsibility for the incident lies with Russia.

In this situation, the responsibility obviously lies with Russia

 - stated the Romanian President.

According to him, the residents of the building, except for the family from the apartment directly affected by the explosion, can already return to their homes. The President noted that the building did not suffer serious structural damage.

As a result of the explosion, two people were injured - a 53-year-old woman and her 14-year-old son. They suffered burns, but there is no threat to their lives. The Romanian President reported that the victims are in stable condition and recovering.

Nicușor Dan also stated that the incident confirms the need for further investment in anti-drone defense.

One cannot be a NATO state and not invest in defense - we must be prepared

 - the President emphasized.

According to the Romanian leader, Europe as a whole faces a shortage of modern anti-drone systems, and the war in Ukraine has forced NATO and EU countries to accelerate adaptation to new threats.

In addition, Romania is already raising the issue of strengthening air and anti-drone defense at the NATO level.
