North Korea has announced a sharp increase in the production of artillery ammunition amid large-scale arms supplies to Russia for the war against Ukraine. This was reported by Defense Express with reference to the Korean Central News Agency, according to UNN.
Details
According to North Korean propaganda, the production of artillery shells in the DPRK has allegedly doubled its previous record and is four times higher than the country's average ammunition output.
Such statements were made during a visit by DPRK leader Kim Jong Un to one of the defense enterprises in Pyongyang.

Defense Express notes that North Korea's statements should be treated with skepticism, as they constitute official regime propaganda.

At the same time, the fact of large-scale arms supplies to the Russian Federation is confirmed by numerous data points.
According to estimates, from September 2023 to April 2025, the DPRK could have transferred between 1 and 6 million artillery shells and rockets to Russia. This includes not only ammunition for tube artillery but also mortar shells, rockets for MLRS, and other weaponry.
Pyongyang also supplies Russia with artillery and missiles
In addition to ammunition, the DPRK supplies the Russian army with self-propelled artillery units, multiple launch rocket systems, ballistic missiles, and anti-tank missile systems.
Defense Express recalled that the North Korean defense-industrial complex comprises about 300 enterprises employing approximately 500,000 people.
Against the backdrop of Russia's war against Ukraine, military production in the DPRK continues to grow actively.
