Head of the President's Office, former head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, showed himself in a vyshyvanka and recalled how he has worn a military uniform for most of his life, UNN reports.
Most of my life I have worn a military uniform. But for me, the vyshyvanka is about memory. About home, family, childhood, about people who are no longer with us but who are always in our thoughts,
Today is World Vyshyvanka Day, Budanov noted. He pointed out that it was once an initiative of a few students, "and now Vyshyvanka Day has become truly global."
"Ukrainian vyshyvankas are worn in different countries, at the front and in the rear, in big cities and small villages. In this, perhaps, there is something very important for all of us – even in the most difficult times, to remember who we are and where we come from. And I believe that the day will come when we can take off our military uniforms and put on embroidered shirts again – in a peaceful, free, and safe Ukraine. Happy Vyshyvanka Day! Let's cherish what is ours!" Budanov emphasized.
