The United Kingdom has introduced sanctions against 18 crypto platforms and banks that helped Russia bypass restrictions. This was reported by UNN with reference to the press service of the British government.
Details
The measures target cryptocurrencies and illicit financial transaction networks that Russia uses to circumvent UK sanctions. The country's government announced a new package of sanctions aimed at cryptocurrency exchanges and the A7 network, which Russia uses to bypass existing restrictions and transfer funds to finance the war against Ukraine. The sanctions take effect immediately.
"If the Russian leadership thinks it can bypass our sanctions by hiding behind cryptocurrency networks and shadow financial systems, they are deeply mistaken. The UK is stepping up measures and adjusting its approach, targeting evolving evasion schemes. We are striking at the infrastructure that sustains Russia's war economy, while Ukraine increases pressure on the battlefield. We are identifying and cutting off the financial channels that support Putin's war machine. There will be nowhere to hide for those who aid Russian aggression,"
