It is reported that he is charged with extortion and receipt of unlawful benefit for influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform state functions (part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect set up a scheme to illegally earn money by facilitating the booking of employees of enterprises that are critical to the functioning of the region's economy.
In exchange for a reward, he promised the head of a private enterprise to influence officials of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine to obtain permission to reserve employees from mobilization.
A civil servant was detained after giving him USD 1,000 in unlawful benefit.
Currently, motions have been filed with the court to impose a preventive measure on the suspect and remove him from office.
The operation was conducted by the prosecutors jointly with the investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Odesa region with the operational support of the SBU Office in Odesa region and the assistance of the leadership of the Odesa Regional Military (State) Administration.
