Almost 10,000 Amazon workers across the US have gone on strike a few days before Christmas. The union, organized by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, began the strike this Thursday, December 19, to put pressure on Amazon to renegotiate their labor contracts. The union accuses Amazon of failing to negotiate a fair contract with them.
The union considers this action “the largest strike against Amazon in the history of the United States.
In response, Amazon claims that the workers on strike are not actually employees of the company. Amazon also said that it does not expect any impact on its operations.

This is the second strike announced during the period of massive sales in the US. On Black Friday, November 29, employees represented by the Uni Global Union went on strike to demand better working conditions.
The groups held public mobilizations in cities in the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, and India. In total, the strike covered 20 countries. The movement, called Make Amazon Pay , called for higher wages and the right to unionize.
