A Ukrainian who caught the legendary Warsaw catfish has been deported from Poland

A Ukrainian was deported from Poland for catching a legendary 183-centimeter catfish. He has been banned from entering the Schengen Area for a period of five years.

A 57-year-old Ukrainian man has been found guilty of catching a famous local catfish from Warsaw's Lake Balaton. The man faced up to three years in prison, but it was decided to deport him to Ukraine. This was reported by TVN24, according to UNN

The man, arrested for catching a catfish in Lake Balaton in Gocław, was charged, among other things, with animal cruelty. The Border Guard decided to deport him to Ukraine

As it became known, the 57-year-old citizen of Ukraine was charged with two crimes. The first is described in the law on inland fisheries, and the second in the law on animal protection.

After completing the investigation into the suspect's case, officers handed him over to the Border Guard. they requested a return decision. They noted that the 57-year-old man's continued stay in Poland "poses a threat to public order."

The commander of the border post in Warsaw issued a decision obliging the 57-year-old man to return without specifying a date for voluntary departure. At the same time, a ban on re-entry into the territory of Poland and other countries of the Schengen area was imposed for a period of five years

He added that due to the nature of the case, the decision is subject to immediate execution. This meant that the man was taken the same day to the road border crossing in Dorohusk, where he was handed over to Ukrainian border guards.
