Zelensky on Russia's night attack: Russians specifically waited for frosty weather to make things worse for people
Kyiv • UNN
Russia fired 94 missiles and nearly 200 drones at Ukraine's energy facilities during the cold snap. Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 81 missiles and 80 drones.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russians were specifically waiting for frosty weather to strike at Ukraine's energy facilities to make things worse for people. Zelensky said this in an evening address, UNN reports.
"It was one of the biggest attacks against our energy sector. 94 missiles of various types, both cruise and ballistic. 81 were shot down. There were also almost 200 attack drones. In general, we see that the Russians tried to overload our air defense system, as they always do, with such massive strikes. They also specifically waited for frosty weather to make it worse for people. The strike took place just as it was getting colder - this is a deliberate, cynical Russian terror against people. Each missile was aimed at a particular energy facility," Zelensky said.
He noted that power engineers and repair teams are currently working in the regions.
