Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, stated that Russia is interested in joint economic projects with the US if Washington stops linking trade ties to a peace agreement regarding Ukraine. Peskov made this statement during a briefing, as reported by Russian "media," according to UNN.

"As the American side becomes ready not to link the prospects of normalizing trade and economic relations with the Ukrainian settlement, or as the Ukrainian settlement occurs—and the Ukrainian settlement will occur—then, we hope, the path to implementing a whole range of economic projects will be open,"
He stated that "there could be many mutually beneficial projects on the agenda of Russian-American relations—in the sphere of mutual investment and the economy."
