Pope Leo XIV, during a visit to San Marino and an address in the Italian city of Rimini, called on Catholics to resist wars, polarization and social division through dialogue and solidarity. In San Marino, the pontiff said that society should be built on freedom, mutual respect and community. He warned against violence, social fragmentation and ideologies that place self-interest above the common good.

The Pope also called San Marino a "laboratory of good politics" and stressed the need to protect the dignity of every person "from conception to natural death." At the same time, he did not directly mention the 2021 referendum in which the people of San Marino supported the legalization of abortion during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Later, Leo XIV addressed the annual Catholic gathering in Rimini. He said that peace can be built by people who are not afraid to meet and engage with one another, and that human dignity should be more important than political, social and ideological differences.
