Ukraine has opened the Uhryniv-Dolhobychuv border crossing to empty trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons as a first step toward unblocking, with separate lanes for these vehicles to reduce queues

An agreement to allow empty trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons to cross the border from Ukraine to Poland through the Uhryniv-Dolhobyczów checkpoint is the first step toward resolving the situation with the blocking of the checkpoint. This was confirmed on Monday during a briefing by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, a UNN correspondent reports.

When asked whether it is possible to say that the opening of the Uhryniv-Dolhobyczuv checkpoint for empty trucks is the first step to resolve the situation with Polish carriers, Demchenko replied: "Exactly."

This is one of the agreements that was reached in order to use this direction for the passage of empty vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tons, which will allow to further delimit the queues, perhaps reduce the queues, because there are other agreements that need to be implemented. I hope that they will be fulfilled in the coming days,

Demchenko said.

At 1 am today, the clearance of empty trucks at Uhryniv-Dolhobyczuv checkpoint began. As of 7 a.m., about 30 trucks had already left Ukraine. In total, there were about 60 vehicles in the queues. A separate lane was allocated for trucks, and truckers crossed the border on a first-come, first-served basis.

Demchenko also added that the next agreement between Ukraine and the Polish strikers is to create separate lanes in the eChezha system for empty trucks leaving Ukraine through the Yagodyn and Krakivets checkpoints.
