Israeli military officials knew about Hamas attack plan over a year ago - NYT

The New York Times has obtained a document detailing Hamas's October 7 attack on Israel. Officials knew about the document a year ago, but considered the plan too complex for Hamas.

Israeli officials received Hamas's action plan for the October 7 attack more than a year before it was implemented. The New York Times writes about it , UNN reports.

The newspaper got a document in which 40 pages described point by point the Hamas invasion.

The plan did not the start date of the operation, but it did describe in detail the procedure, aimed at destroying the fortifications around the Gaza Strip, capturing Israeli cities and storming key military bases.

Hamas followed a a plan that called for a drone attack at the beginning of the attack, disable surveillance cameras and automatic machine guns along the border, and then to launch a massive invasion of Israel by militants on paragliders, motorcycles and on foot.

The plan contained detailed information on the location and number of Israeli armed forces, communication centers and other confidential data.

The New York Times indicates that Israeli army and intelligence officials saw the document a year before the attack. a year before the attack, but they did not take it seriously because they considered it too complicated for Hamas. 

Officials have privately acknowledged officials privately acknowledge that if the military had taken these warnings seriously and redirected significant reinforcements to the south, where Hamas attacked, Israel could have mitigate the attacks or perhaps even prevent them.
