Exhumation works are starting in Volyn for the reburial of residents of the former villages of Ostrovky and Volya Ostrovetska, who died during the Volyn tragedy. The works will last until August 7, in fulfillment of Ukrainian-Polish agreements.

In two former villages in Volyn, exhumations of those killed in 1943 will be conducted for the second time

On July 13, exhumation works will begin on the territory of the former villages of Ostrovky and Volya Ostrovetska in the Volyn region for the reburial of residents of these villages who died during the Volyn tragedy. This is reported by the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory (UINP), informs UNN.

Details

It is noted that the work will last until August 7 in fulfillment of the agreements reached as a result of the activities of the Ukrainian-Polish working group on national memory.

The UINP added that from April 20 to 30, search works were already carried out on the territory of the former villages of Ostrovky and Volya Ostrovetska. According to the results of research at the locations "Volya Ostrovetska 1", "Ostrovky 1" and "School", signs of burial sites and human remains were found. At other locations, no signs of burial sites or human remains were found.
