International Cheetah Day is celebrated on December 4 to raise awareness of the rapidly declining cheetah population, with only 7,000 left in Africa. At the same time, December 4 marks the International Banking Day and the beginning of the Law Week in Ukraine.

Today, December 4, many countries around the world various events are taking place in many countries around the world on the occasion of the International Cheetah Day. The event was established in 2010  by the Cheetah Protection Fund at the initiative of cheetahs on the initiative of animal rights activist Laurie Marker, writes UNN.

The cheetah is the fastest mammal on the planet. In three seconds it can reach speeds of up to 110 kilometers per hour.

Once upon a time, cheetahs inhabited large areas of Asia and Africa. Due to human activity, the cheetah population in Asia was practically destroyed. It is believed that they can be seen in the wild only in Iran.

 According to estimates of scientists, there are seven thousand cheetahs in the wild in Africa.

Since 2019, according to a UN General Assembly resolution, the fourth of December has been December is celebrated as International Banking Day.

The purpose of the event is to emphasize the contribution of these financial institutions to improving the income and living conditions of various national communities.

In Ukraine, the Law Week starts today and will will end on December 10, Human Rights Day. It was on this day that the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1948.

The Law Week, as an educational and awareness-raising event, was first held in Ukraine in 2008.

According to the church calendar, today is the Day of the Martyr Barbara.
