The US national team has set the first world record for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in athletics during the mixed relay race. UNN reports this with reference to the Games' website.

"First night at the Stade de France, and we already have our first world record! It was set in the first race of the 4×400 meter mixed relay," the statement reads.
It is noted that the U.S. team - Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, Bryce Dedmon and Kailyn Brown - crossed the finish line in 3:07.41, improving the previous record by more than a second.
According to Reuters, they set the previous record of 3:08.80 at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.
"I always knew we were going to run fast, and we talked about how it would take a record to win a medal," said American Shamier Little.
