A bipartisan group of senators introduced a bill promoted by Senator Lindsey Graham that provides for sanctions against high-ranking Russian officials and high tariffs for the largest buyers of Russian oil. CBS reports, informs UNN.
Details
It is noted that the document aims to increase pressure on Russian leaders and will be directed against the energy sector of the Russian Federation. The text of the bill was finalized before Graham's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy last week in Kyiv.
Passing this bill right now would be a fitting tribute to Senator Graham's ardent support for Ukraine's freedom
The publication notes that about 30 senators have publicly stated their readiness to support this bill, which could be approved before the August recess of Congress. At the same time, the bipartisan group of senators called for the bill to be brought to a vote as soon as possible and not to support new provisions previously proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Recall
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the bill on new sanctions against Russia has high chances of being passed. The document may be expanded to include sanctions against Iran and Hezbollah.
