U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States expects a response from Iran today regarding the war proposal, adding that he hopes "it is a serious proposal," UNN reports, citing CNN.
"We should hear something today," Rubio said at a press conference in Rome this morning.
"As of the last hour, we have not received it yet," he said. "Their system is still highly fragmented and inefficient, so that could be an obstacle."
The top American diplomat noted there is hope that Iran's response "will allow us to begin a serious negotiation process."
