The Pentagon chief assured his counterpart that Israel can count on the full support of the United States to defend itself against attacks from Iran and its regional allies.
Gallant informed his interlocutor about Israel's defense actions and emphasized that the country was "ready for any further attacks.

Iran had previously announced the launch of dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles toward Israel. According to Israeli media, more than 100 drones were launched in total. The Israeli army began shooting them down over the territory of Syria and Jordan.
The Iranian attack was a response to an Israeli strike on the diplomatic quarter in Damascus, where the Iranian embassy complex is located. Two Iranian generals and five officers were killed. Western countries urged citizens not to visit the region.
