The US government has supported the potential sale of combat management systems for surface ships to Germany worth up to $11.9 billion. This was reported by Bloomberg, writes UNN.

This refers to the supply of integrated AEGIS-based combat systems, including computing equipment and radars, to equip up to eight ships.
The main contractors could be American defense companies Lockheed Martin and RTX.
The US State Department noted that the agreement aims to strengthen the security of a NATO ally and increase the interoperability of the German Navy with US forces and other partners.
Approval procedure
The potential sale has already been officially reported to the US Congress. However, this is only a preliminary approval - the final parameters of the contract still need to be agreed upon by the parties.
Typically, years can pass between approval and the actual delivery of such equipment.
The decision was made against the backdrop of a tense security situation and growing demand for weapons among US allies.
At the same time, Washington recognizes that some deliveries may be delayed due to the need to replenish its own stocks after the use of ammunition in the conflict with Iran.
