Negotiations between American and Iranian officials are direct, CNN reports, citing sources, writes UNN.
Details
Today's peace talks between the US and Iran are taking place "face-to-face," Iranian sources told CNN.
Earlier, CNN learned that negotiations in Islamabad had already begun, but it remained unclear whether they would be conducted through intermediaries or not.
On Friday, a US official and a regional source told CNN that these important talks would be both direct and indirect.
Previous rounds of negotiations were mostly indirect, through Omani intermediaries, although there were also direct contacts during nuclear talks last spring.
Addition
US Vice President JD Vance and a US delegation previously arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan, for talks with Iran. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf was to lead the talks on behalf of Iranian officials. The talks are planned as a one-day event, Iranian state media reported.
