Details

"The Security Service of Ukraine prevented a series of Russian air strikes on Ukrzaliznytsia facilities in Kharkiv region. As a result of a multi-stage special operation, two Russian military intelligence agents were detained who were preparing to fire at the Armed Forces trains transporting personnel, equipment and ammunition to the front line. According to the case file, the main suspect was a Russian citizen, rector of a Kharkiv church of the UOC (MP), who was recruited by the aggressor country's special service before the full-scale war," the SBU reported on social media.

According to the SBU, after the Russian invasion, he was contacted by a staff member of the main department of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (known as GRU). His identity has already been established by the Security Service.

"During the remote contact, the enemy intelligence officer set a task for the cleric: to collect information about the schedules and routes of the movement of the Armed Forces echelons in the Kharkiv region. To obtain intelligence, the priest engaged his friend, an employee of the local branch of Ukrzaliznytsia," the SBU said.

According to the special service, it was established that "the official gave the cleric access to official documents with information about the time of departure and arrival, as well as places of unloading of the Defense Forces trains.

It is noted that the clergyman was supposed to send the footage to his curator through an anonymous chat in the messenger. Encryption symbols were used. Each time the correspondence was deleted. "In case of receiving a 'detailed report', the occupiers planned to carry out a fire attack at the specified coordinates," the SBU said.

The security service reportedly exposed the enemy's accomplices in advance. Both suspects were detained in their homes.

The cleric and his accomplice were notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 114-2 (unauthorized dissemination of information on the sending, movement of weapons, armaments and ammunition to Ukraine, movement, movement or deployment of the Armed Forces or other military formations formed in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code. The sanction of the article provides for a sentence of up to 12 years in prison.

The offenders are in custody. The issue of additional qualification of their actions is being settled.
