Since May 1, at least 70 civilians have been killed and over 500 wounded in Ukraine. The UN has recorded numerous strikes on cities in various regions of the country.

The total number of civilian casualties across Ukraine since May 1 has reached at least 70 killed and over 500 injured. This was reported by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU), according to UNN.

It is noted that both the scale of civilian casualties and the extent of the affected territory in just a few days are of particular concern.

From May 1 to 5, Russian armed forces launched numerous strikes on various cities in Ukraine, resulting in significant civilian casualties. ... The series of long-range missile and drone strikes, ongoing since May 1, has caused deaths and injuries to civilians across Ukraine, including in the west of the country, in cities such as Ternopil and Rivne, as well as in the Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Poltava, and Odesa regions

It is indicated that some of those killed and injured during repeated strikes on facilities that had already been attacked were emergency service workers and rescuers.

"Under international humanitarian law, the party carrying out an attack is obliged to take all possible measures to minimize civilian casualties, particularly considering the timing of the attacks and the type of weapons used," the HRMMU emphasized.
