Ukrainian tennis player Oleksandra Oliynykova made a successful start at her debut Roland Garros 2026, confidently defeating the "neutral" Russian Elena Pridankina. This was reported by UNN.

The match lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes and ended with the Ukrainian's victory in two sets – 6:1, 6:2. Despite the blowout score, many games involved deuce battles, but Oliynykova performed significantly better on the return and won most of the key rallies.

The Russian failed to win a single game on her own serve. During the match, Oliynykova served two aces, committed five double faults, and converted eight breaks. Her opponent managed three breaks, but this did not affect the outcome of the meeting.

Oliynykova became the fifth Ukrainian to reach the second round of Roland Garros 2026. This is the best result in the history of Ukrainian women's tennis at the Parisian Major.

Earlier, Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Yuliia Starodubtseva, and Daria Snigur also advanced to the next round. In the second round, Oliynykova will play against the winner of the Jessica Pegula – Kimberly Birrell match.
