Ukraine will continue to insist on creating an air defense system to protect European countries from Russian ballistic missiles and plans to implement this project together with partners. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reports UNN.
"Europe will build its own anti-ballistic missile defense, this is a pressing issue. Ukraine is not giving up, so we will definitely push this through. This is our initiative, which we will implement together with partners. Putin wants everything to burn for us, and he is insane – the partners feel this," said Zelenskyy, answering journalists' questions.
According to him, despite this, Ukraine is ready for negotiations with Russia to end the war.
"But Europe must engage fully so that we have a strong position. Engage fully on sanctions – without exceptions. On confiscation – without exceptions. And on funding for Ukraine," the President added.

Ukraine, together with European partners, plans to create a pan-European anti-ballistic missile shield. The basis of the Freyja system is the Ukrainian ballistic interceptor missile FP-7.x, developed by the Ukrainian manufacturer Fire Point. It is called an analogue of the American Patriot PAC-3 system. However, Ukrainian missiles are significantly cheaper - their price is expected to be about 700 thousand dollars per unit compared to 3.8 million dollars for one American missile.
The FP-7.x during a recent test reached a flight altitude of 25 kilometers, which is comparable to the performance of the Patriot system.
On June 16, the German radar systems manufacturer Hensoldt joined the project to create the pan-European anti-ballistic missile shield Freyja.
According to information from open sources, Freyja will include, in addition to German long-range detection radars, also an illumination and guidance radar Weibel GFTR-2100/48 or Leonardo KRONOS Land. The command post will be based on the Norwegian Kongsberg Fire Distribution Center system. One of the key features of the system will be an open architecture and the use of Network Access Nodes modules, which will allow integrating additional solutions and components.
Data exchange between all elements of the system will be carried out via the tactical Link 16 channel, standardized according to STANAG 5516. It is this protocol that should ensure the integration of Freyja into the existing air defense system of Ukraine and other European countries.
