President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on the "Polish direction", as a result of which it was agreed to do several key things. In particular, all archives of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine regarding the tragic events of the 20th century in Volyn will be opened. Zelenskyy reported this on Telegram, reports UNN.
I held a meeting on our policy in the Polish direction. The priorities are obvious: everyone in Europe needs good neighborly, equal, and mutually beneficial relations built on respect. Poland has significantly supported Ukraine since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, and we are grateful to Poland. Defending Ukraine's independence directly means strengthening Poland's independence, and the security challenges facing Europe today can only be solved through cooperation, particularly through the cooperation of the free nations of our region.
He noted that during the meeting, it was agreed to do several key things.
First: there will be decisions on the diplomatic track. Second: all archives of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine regarding the tragic events of the 20th century in Volyn will be opened. Third: there will be decisions to provide an additional significant number of permits for search and exhumation work, and together with the Polish side, we must ensure greater capacity to carry out such work. Fourth: we discussed possible formats for expanding the inter-societal dialogue between Ukraine and Poland.
Finally, it was agreed with Oleksandr Alfiorov, the head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, to expand the institute's capabilities.
Oleksandr will prepare and present systemic proposals, and I ask the relevant government officials and the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada to consider the possibility of increasing the financial and other support for the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance. Worthy representation of Ukrainian interests also requires appropriate capabilities.
Let us recall
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reacted to the adoption by the Polish Sejm of another resolution on the anniversary of the tragic events in Volyn of 1943–1944, emphasizing the need to continue constructive dialogue and joint work to establish historical truth.
