In 2025, over 300 MW of new wind power plants were commissioned. By 2030, they plan to reach 6.2 GW of capacity for the energy stability of the regions.

Ukraine has launched 300 MW of wind power capacity in a year and is preparing projects for another 4 GW, the Ministry of Energy reported on Wednesday, writes UNN.

In 2025, Ukraine commissioned over 300 MW of new wind power capacity. In addition, over 4 GW of projects are under development at various stages. The implementation of existing and the launch of new wind power projects will increase the energy resilience of the regions and the country as a whole and ensure the achievement of 6.2 GW of wind power capacity by 2030, as provided for by the National Renewable Energy Action Plan.

- said First Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Artem Nekrasov during the Wind Europe 2026 conference in Madrid.

According to him, Ukraine is improving the regulatory framework in the industry in accordance with European standards. In particular, a law on energy market reform was recently adopted to increase the competitiveness of renewable energy sources and the stability of the energy system, which introduced changes to the renewable energy auction procedure based on the "green" premium model.

The Ministry of Energy has also completed the development of a draft law aimed at improving the legislative framework to promote the use of energy from renewable sources, which implements the provisions of RED III regarding permitting procedures for RES projects.

Artem Nekrasov also emphasized the importance of human capital in the transformation process, for which a systematic approach to upskilling, retraining, and continuous professional development is necessary.

"Ukraine has one of the most powerful wind resource bases in Europe. Combined with growing integration with the EU energy system and increasing demand for clean electricity, this has created a unique investment opportunity – not just for recovery, but for building back better. We are open to cooperation and strive for long-term partnership. Wind energy is a key part of our common future," Nekrasov summarized.
