U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he discussed Russia's war against Ukraine with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, and that both leaders "would like to see" it "settled." At the same time, Trump suggested that the Russian missile strike on an apartment building in Kyiv, which killed 24 people, including three children, could set back efforts to find a peaceful settlement to Russia's war against Ukraine, Reuters reports, according to UNN.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on the way back from China, Trump, who has tried but so far failed to achieve an end to the war he called senseless bloodshed, said he "discussed the conflict" with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, and that both leaders agreed they want the fighting to stop.
"It's one that we'd like to see settled. Until last night, it was looking good, but they (the Ukrainians) took a big hit last night. So it's gonna happen (the end of the war). But it's a shame,"
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for Moscow to be punished for the strike after laying red roses at the ruins of the apartment building on Friday.
Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin is expected to visit China and meet with Xi next week. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the exact dates would be announced shortly. Peskov said Putin hopes to discuss Trump's visit to China with Xi, as well as bilateral ties and international issues.
