US President-elect Donald Trump "sent a message" to Volodymyr Zelenskyy to start thinking about a ceasefire and abandoning all territories occupied by Russian troops, writes the publication El Pais, reports UNN.

As El Pais writes, this week Trump addressed the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy from his golf club in Florida, calling on him to start thinking about a ceasefire and abandoning all occupied territories. "It's nice to say they want their land back, but the cities are mostly destroyed," he said. "You look at some of these cities, and there's not a single house left standing. So when you say 'return the country'... Return what? This is a 110-year reconstruction," he added.
However, several European sources, who wished to remain anonymous, believe that the signals sent by the Republican are not negative.
Trump promised to stop the war within 24 hours. He gave no hint as to how he would do this, but his public rhetoric was not encouraging, according to El Pais.
