US presidential candidate Donald Trump is two points ahead of his likely Democratic rival Kamala Harris. This is evidenced by the results of a YouGov poll for The Times, which was conducted after President Joe Biden's decision to withdraw his candidacy from the election, UNN reports.

The publication emphasizes that a little more than three months before the November 5 election, “Trump could still lose the election.
According to the poll, the Republican is viewed more favorably than Harris: 44% of likely voters have a very or somewhat favorable attitude toward the former president. About 41% of respondents say the same about Harris. At the same time, 50% have an unfavorable view of Trump and 51% have an unfavorable view of Harris.
It is noted that Trump remains the most trusted candidate on two important issues: the economy and immigration. He is also ahead on foreign policy and crime. Harris, meanwhile, is ahead of Trump in terms of trust in addressing abortion and environmental issues.
“[Harris] is someone who hasn't run a single campaign as a presidential candidate and hasn't been in the spotlight like Biden has been for the last four years. Yet she's starting out just as strong as Biden. Biden's withdrawal and Harris's nomination as the likely candidate all run counter to any repercussions we might see from the further fallout from the televised debate, assassination attempt, convention, and J.D. Vance's nomination. Certainly, the convention and nomination can be positive events that give a candidate a boost, so perhaps we are seeing those effects offset by the Biden-Harris switch,” explained Carl Bialik, Vice President of Data Science and U.S. Politics Editor at YouGov.
