Speaking to reporters aboard the presidential aircraft Air Force One, President Trump said the U.S. has enough ammunition, after reports from CBS News and other media that the rapid pace of U.S. expenditure of some of its most advanced air defense interceptors and precision weapons in the Middle East is a point of great tension within the Trump administration, according to U.S. military and intelligence officials.
Officials told CBS News that there are greater concerns about America's readiness for future conflicts. A reporter asked the president whether he is worried about the depletion of stockpiles.
"No. We have enough. We have a lot of ammunition. Of different types," Trump responded.
"You know, Biden gave a lot to Ukraine. So we are building that up. But we have a lot. We also have a lot of mid-level things. I mean, more than we could use under any circumstances. But we have a lot. Honestly, I would like to have more. But Biden gave so much to Ukraine. When I left, the stockpiles were full," Trump stated.
Trump said that regarding some of the most advanced technologies, the U.S. would like to have more supplies.
