The issue of Taiwan is likely to be one of the key topics of negotiations between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping during their meeting next week. This was reported by Reuters, according to UNN.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that the topic of Taiwan is traditionally present in the dialogue between the two countries.
"I am sure that Taiwan will be a topic of conversation; it always is,"
According to Rubio, the US is not interested in escalating the situation in the Indo-Pacific region.
"I think both countries understand that neither of us is interested in anything destabilizing happening in that part of the world. We don't need any destabilizing events regarding Taiwan or anywhere in the Indo-Pacific,"
Trump's visit to China is scheduled for mid-May
Donald Trump is expected to visit Beijing on May 14-15, where he will hold talks with Xi Jinping.
The island is under increasing military pressure from China, which considers it its territory. At the same time, the US remains Taiwan's key international partner and arms supplier, which regularly triggers a sharp reaction from Beijing.
