Ties with the RF are toxic, so they are being disavowed: CCD on Russia's attempts to claim Bulgaria's Eurovision victory

Kirkorov claimed credit for Bulgaria's victory at Eurovision 2026, but the country denied his involvement. Meanwhile, Lavrov called the contest satanism.

The Russian propaganda machine cannot seem to make up its mind: whether it was "Great Russia" in the person of Philipp Kirkorov that secured Bulgaria's victory at Eurovision 2026, or whether the contest itself is "outright Satanism," unworthy of "spiritual" Russia, as claimed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation of the NSDC of Ukraine (CCD), as informed by UNN.

Details

It is noted that it all began when the sanctioned singer Philipp Kirkorov pompously announced that the victory of Bulgarian singer Dara was the merit of his team, which helped organize the performance. Z-channels immediately picked up the thesis about the "greatness of Russian musical expertise."

However, official Bulgaria and the singer's producer quickly "grounded" the Russian fantasies, stating that they do not know who Kirkorov is or how he is related to this victory

- the article states.

It is pointed out that Russia is desperately striving to be involved in world events and to have at least some significance, but in reality, it remains in deep isolation.

"The terrorist state is trying to play at 'cultural diplomacy,' but each time it receives a painful slap in the face from the civilized world—connections with the Russian Federation are toxic, so they are disavowed instantly. And the reason here is not the 'Russophobia' invented by the Kremlin, but the fact that Putin, by waging a war of aggression against Ukraine and threatening all of Europe, has finally turned Russia into a pariah state," the CCD concludes.

Reminder

Bulgaria's victory at Eurovision raised many questions due to songwriter Dimitris Kontopoulos's ties to Russian show business. After the song contest final, social media users pointed out his long-term cooperation with Russian singer Philipp Kirkorov and his participation in preparing Russian contestants for Eurovision in previous years.
