Yemeni Houthis began attacking US and British ships, as well as ships associated with Israel, in November 2023. They explained their actions by supporting Hamas militants in the war with Israel. The Houthis do not limit themselves to strikes on commercial vessels and also attack warships.
The United States and the United Kingdom systematically retaliate. According to recent reports, 34 Yemeni militants were killed in attacks on ships in the Red Sea.
