The Kremlin has changed its propaganda tactics and is now questioning the legality of sanctions against the Russian Federation. The CPD emphasizes that the sanctions are a consequence of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

The Kremlin has launched a new information campaign aimed at casting doubt on the legitimacy and legality of international sanctions against Russia. The Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (CCD) reports, according to UNN.

Details

It is noted that whereas propagandists previously circulated narratives claiming that anti-Russian sanctions were ineffective and had no impact on the Russian economy, while instead harming the countries that imposed them, "the talking points have now changed."

Now even dictator Vladimir Putin has voiced claims against "unfriendly countries." The statements about the alleged illegality of sanctions against the Russian Federation that Russian propaganda is promoting in international media do not correspond to reality, since, according to a resolution of the UN General Assembly, Russia committed an act of aggression against Ukraine

- the CCD points out.

The agency assesses that Moscow has grossly violated international law, in particular the Helsinki Final Act and the UN Charter, which enshrine the principles of state sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"The sanctions are a direct consequence of the Kremlin's specific unlawful actions, including the occupation of Ukrainian territories, the destruction of civilian infrastructure, and the killing of civilians," the CCD concludes.

Recall

On the eve of this, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree imposing sanctions on individuals and companies involved in the illegal export of Ukrainian grain. The package includes 13 vessels, 11 Russian citizens, and 28 legal entities.
