This will become possible starting from 2027, when Kazakhstan's new energy capacities are commissioned.

This decision is one of those indicating Kazakhstan's gradual movement toward reducing economic dependence on the Russian Federation. Previously, Kazakhstan refused to build three thermal power plants in cooperation with Russian contractors,

the report states.

The CCD noted that since the beginning of the war against Ukraine, Kazakhstan has been reducing trade with Russians, restricting opportunities for Russian citizens to bypass sanctions, and has changed the status of the Russian language in the country.
