The European Union has agreed on the 21st package of sanctions against Russia, targeting, among other things, revenues and the shadow fleet of the Russian Federation, confirmed by the Irish Presidency of the EU Council on X on Thursday, July 22, reports UNN.
This morning in Brussels, an agreement was reached on the 21st package of sanctions targeting Russia's revenue streams, hindering its shadow fleet, and disrupting its supply chains
The Irish Presidency called this "an important step forward in the first weeks of Ireland's Presidency and another vivid illustration of how Europe supports Ukraine against Russia's illegal and brutal war of aggression."
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the decision.
"I welcome the agreement on the 21st package of sanctions against Russia. We are adding another 32 Russian banks to our list of prohibited transactions. As well as cryptocurrency firms and oil trading platforms. We are freezing the adjustment of the oil price cap for a year so that the Russian war machine does not benefit from market turmoil. For the first time, we are targeting vessels that assist Russia's shadow fleet. And we have taken an important step towards an official ban on the entry of Russian combatants into the EU," she noted.

Earlier, media reported on the agreement in the EU on the 21st package of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
Prior to this, it was reported that envoys of the 27 EU countries were to approve the 21st package of sanctions against the Russian Federation on Thursday after Greece lifted its blockade following concessions on the transportation of Russian LNG.
Athens delayed the approval of the 21st EU sanctions package against Russia for more than a week, leaving other measures, such as sanctions against more banks, cryptocurrency networks, and military-industrial companies, in question.
