Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha held a telephone conversation with the head of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Espen Barth Eide. The parties discussed the intensification of Russian attacks on civilian shipping in the Black Sea, strengthening defense cooperation, and additional support for Ukraine in the area of air defense. During the conversation, the diplomats focused on the security situation in the Black Sea. In particular, they discussed the intensification of Russian attacks on civilian vessels and joint efforts to protect freedom of navigation and global food security.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Russia is deliberately creating a threat to the safety of commercial maritime routes and the food supply of millions of people in various countries around the world, and therefore such a situation requires a decisive and coordinated international response.
"Special attention was paid to strengthening defense cooperation and additional support for protecting the Ukrainian sky. Closing the gaps in our air defense system remains one of the most urgent tasks," noted Andrii Sybiha.
Separately, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked Norway for supporting Ukraine in its interaction with partners in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and other regions of the world.
The ministry emphasized that Norway's support for Ukraine remains unwavering, comprehensive, and extremely important, and also expressed gratitude to Oslo for its leadership, solidarity, and readiness to increase assistance to Ukraine.
