Sybiha and Rubio discussed steps to end the war and the Russian Federation's strike on the Lavra. The parties touched upon the successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the role of the US in the peace process.

Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed ways to advance the peace process, the Russian strike on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, and Ukraine's successes on the battlefield. The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported this on the X social network, UNN reports.

"As part of President Zelenskyy's visit to the G7 summit in Evian, I was pleased to meet with Secretary of State Rubio to exchange views ahead of the expected contacts between our leaders. I congratulated Secretary Rubio on the U.S. agreement with Iran. We hope it will bring security to the region and stability to energy markets,"

- the Minister noted.

Sybiha informed that he reiterated Volodymyr Zelenskyy's expectation that this agreement would create an opportunity to revitalize U.S.-led peace efforts aimed at ending Russia's war against Ukraine.

The parties discussed ways to advance the peace process. The Foreign Minister shared Ukraine's perspective on the steps necessary to finally bring Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.

The Minister informed his colleague about Putin's strikes on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and other civilian, cultural, and historical sites. "They demonstrate that Moscow is waging a war against faith, heritage, and Ukrainian identity," he emphasized.

Sybiha briefed Rubio on Ukraine's recent successes on the battlefield and long-term sanctions against Russia, and stressed that Ukraine sees a growing momentum toward peace through strength and relies on decisive U.S. leadership and engagement.
