Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed his "greatest concern" about Iran's attack on Israel.
"Regional escalation should be avoided at all costs," Sanchez wrote on X.
Sanchez said his country is in touch with its embassies in the region to "serve the Spaniards in the region.
Portuguese Prime Minister Luiz Montenegro also said on X that his government "strongly condemns the attack.
"We call for restraint to avoid an escalation of violence," he wrote.

Iran had previously announced the launch of dozens of unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles toward Israel. According to Israeli media, more than 100 drones were launched in total. The Israeli army began shooting them down over the territory of Syria and Jordan.
The Iranian attack was a response to an Israeli strike on the diplomatic quarter in Damascus, where the Iranian embassy complex is located. Two Iranian generals and five officers were killed. Western countries urged citizens not to visit the region.
