In a telephone conversation with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico criticized Ukraine's inclusion of the russian oil company lukoil in the sanctions list. This is reported by TASR with reference to the press service of the Slovak government, UNN reports.
Details
Fico believes that the imposition of sanctions against Lukoil harms not russia, but some EU countries. He said that "Slovakia does not intend to be a hostage to Ukrainian-russian relations." He also noted that Ukraine's decision to block lukoil's transit will result in the Slovak oil refinery Slovnaft, which is part of the Hungarian MOL group, receiving 40% less oil than it needs for processing.
This will affect not only the Slovak market, but may also lead to the cessation of oil supplies to Ukraine produced at the Slovnaft plant, which account for almost a tenth of all Ukrainian consumption
Shmyhal's office has not yet commented on Fico's statement.
Recall
Slovakia and Hungary announcedthat they have stopped receiving oil from their key supplier lukoil after Ukraine imposed a ban on the transit of the russian energy company's resources through its territory in June.
