In the Chernihiv region, 2,400 hectares of forest are burning in the 5-kilometer border zone due to shelling. The occupiers are also deliberately destroying observation masts and forestry equipment.

Russian occupiers are setting fire to Ukrainian border forests and destroying observation masts of the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine." Forests are burning in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions, UNN reports with reference to the State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine".

Details

In the Chernihiv region, fire has engulfed the territories of the Yelyne and Tykhonovychi forestry units of the Koriukivka forest district. Due to shelling, 2,400 hectares of forest located within the 5-kilometer border zone are ablaze. At the same time, forestry workers do not have access to these areas due to the security situation.

Video footage of the burning forests, as well as enemy strikes on observation masts, has appeared online. In total, over 400 such units have been installed.

As noted by SE "Forests of Ukraine," there were plans to install another 30 towers this year, but the Russian occupiers prevented this. To prevent the fire from spreading to other forest areas, all forest guard forces have been deployed.

First and foremost, we are creating additional mineralized strips. The enterprise's tractors are operating under the cover of electronic warfare (EW), as the enemy strikes any equipment. All of the enterprise's new firefighting equipment has been mobilized. However, for now, we do not have the opportunity to fully utilize it, as enemy UAVs are constantly in the air

 - the post by SE "Forests of Ukraine" reads.

In addition, in the event of damage or destruction of the masts, monitoring of forest massifs will continue with the help of drones.

Recall

In the Rivne region and Transcarpathia, large-scale forest fires have been localized, which covered about 165 hectares of forest land. The elimination of the fires is ongoing.
